Tanaka Farms Day-Trip

Hello, lovelies!

Carly here with an update on a fun place to go in Orange County, California. I’m talking about Tanaka Farms! Since 1940, Tanaka Farms is a family-owned, authentic working produce farm in Irvine, off of University Drive.

At Tanaka Farms, there are a variety of fun things to do:

  • Seasonal tours

  • Freshly harvested produce for sale

  • A pumpkin patch in the fall

  • A Christmas tree farm in the winter

  • Opportunities for you to pick your own fruits and vegetables yearround

  • More!

Tanaka Farms is the perfect place to take little siblings or visiting family members who have children, as well! The farm has a corn maze, a petting zoo, and various interactive activites that all ages can enjoy!

The farm also has events throughout the year. August 11-14, don’t miss the U-Pick Tours where you can pick your own fruits and vegetables fresh from the vine! Also, Tanaka Farm's 1st Annual Scarecrow Contest is September 19-20. Non-profit groups - schools, community groups & youth organizations are eligible for the contest. The winning organization will recieve a $1,000 and will be announced on October 31st.

Not only can you have a good time at the farm, but you can also get volunteer hours for gleaning, a “process of picking or gathering of vegetables in the field when there is an abundance of a crop,” according to the Tanaka Farms website. The great part about gleaning at Tanaka Farms is that the vegetables that are picked by volunteers will go to families in need connected with the food pantries at South County Outreach and Families Forward in Irvine!

So, to enjoy a fun day out at a family-friendly farm, Tanaka Farms is a perfect way to not only take home bushels of fresh fruits and veggies, but to also support a local family-owned organic farm!
