Birdy, the beloved indie artist well known for her cover of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" and many of the hit songs from the Fault in our Stars, just released a full length album of her original music, Beautiful Lies. She describes the new album as having a lot of Japanese influences in the music. I think everyone was waiting for her to drop an album, and it certainly lives up to high expectations. The mellow songs are touching and somber, mixed with smooth electronic beats and piano. I am especially in love with Wild Horses. The music video is stunning as well, the mermaid storyline is brilliant. The singer says she based the album off of Memoirs of a Geisha, and it shows through the music. Birdy's style has really matured and adapted to her as shes grown older. I hope to see more amazing music come out of her in the future. For now I'll be obsessing over Beautiful Lies.
