Limited Edition: Pumpkin Spice

Fall has officially arrived; sweater weather is back; Shonda Rhimes is back to take over Thursday evenings; and Starbucks is once again serving its ever-so-popular pumpkin spice latte. The pumpkin spice latte is Starbucks’ most popular seasonal drink of all time. When the drink first came to market in 2003, there were few pumpkin spice flavored foods. Today, however, the pumpkin spice trend has turned into a full-blown mania. This season there are hundreds of new pumpkin spice creations you can find beyond your local Starbucks. So if you’re feeling adventurous this fall season, here is a list of eight of interesting limited edition pumpkin products you should consider:

1. Don’t feel like running to Starbucks every time you have a pumpkin spice latte craving? Then try NestleCoffee-mate’s Pumpkin Spice creamer ($4). This perfect blend of sweet and spicy will give you the pumpkin spice taste you want in your coffee in a more affordable and convenient way.

2. Even though it’s not technically pumpkin spice flavored, Kellogg’s Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts ($3) with their sweet dessert taste make a delicious on the go breakfast. With its crust, orange pumpkin filling and white frosting representing the dollop of whipped cream on top of the pie, no need to wait for thanksgiving to the taste of pumpkin pie you’ve been waiting for.

3. You can literally see the speckles of spice on these Thomas Pumpkin Spice Bagels ($5). Made with real pumpkin and cinnamon these bagels are a perfect pairing with your pumpkin spice latte.

4. Don’t let the orange color of Philadelphia’s Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Spread ($3) scare you off. The sweet, creamy spread with subtle flavors of pumpkin spice work flawlessly with Thomas Pumpkin Spice Bagels or any type of bread, if you don’t want to overdose on the pumpkin spice.

5. The cousin of the popular Eggo cinnamon waffle, the Kellogg’s pumpkin spice waffle ($2) smells as good as it tastes. With a bit of syrup added these waffles will have you saying “Leggo my eggo.”

6. What do you get when you combine Pillsbury dough, Cinnabon icing, and pumpkin spice flavor… perfection is the answer. Pillsbury Grands Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls ($4) are a perfect sweet treat for any occasion this fall season.

7. Ghiradelli offers a perfect balance of chocolate with a creamy pumpkin spice caramel flavor on the inside. You can never go wrong with Ghirardelli’s Pumpkin Spice Caramel Squares ($4). Or Ghiradelli’s anything, for that matter!

8. Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake ($4)… Its Ben and Jerry’s. Need I say more? The only downside? It’s a limited edition batch.

Try one, or try all, but if you miss out, don’t worry. Christmas peppermint is right around the corner!
