It’s been another successful fashion week in Copenhagen where fashion elites come together to view some of the greatest Northern European designers. Not only could fashion be found walking down the runway or strutting a pose in an expo, the streets of Copenhagen had some of the greatest trends. Fashion week in Copenhagen started on the first week of August presenting pieces from designers like Jean // Philip, Rebecca Rebecca, and Ivan Grundahl.
Scandinavian actors, bloggers, and models were spotted outside on the streets sporting their best styles for the season. Copenhagen is a melting pot of different people with high sense of fashion. Do not underestimate them because they are some of the best dressed. Copenhagen is a fashion leading city known for its contemporary high fashion. On the runway, designers presented their SS16 collection which reflected on street style. Trends like color blocking and monochromatic outfits were found walking down the streets. Just as much pattern on the runway was also spotted outside. Bright and warm colors were trending on the streets and used in a variety of ways. Color was used to make outfits pop with pieces like fuchsia pants, bright red heels, and ombre sweaters.
Something that really catches your eye are the different textures of fabrics. Interesting pieces like faux fur shawls, fringe, and textured tops were worn that really stood out among others. Another big trend that has popularized everywhere is the “sporty chic” style. Both men and women have taken the trend and made it their own. A young man was photographed wearing black pleather pants with multiple zippers, a red sweater, a baseball hat, and yeezy boosts shoes. It was a wide variety of colors, prints, and textures but all together it was unique and stylish. Models outside just before shows were sporting the “casual cool” style with flannel dresses, ripped boyfriend jeans, and co-ord sets. The looks were very simple yet fashion forward. Their style ultimately gives comfort but allows you to look stylish at the same time.
Overall the fashion was monochromatic and contemporary. This has become a big trend around the world. However, Copenhagen has taken the trend and changed something about it making this fashion week unique and different than others. The color pallette was more on the cooler side with blues, grays, blacks, and whites. I think this fad is appropriate since their summers are more cooler. Occassionaly some people paired beiges and whites together that was appropriate for the warmer days and afternoon events. This fashion week provided inspiration and new trends for fashion goers around the world. Until then, farvel and we look forward to the next fashion week in Copenhagen for new looks and fads!
