Finally, Macklemore has released his new album. Going into the woods with Ryan Lewis and
recording his new record in a small cabin with no cell reception or internet, Macklemore
has officially created a new music masterpiece. By combining political issues, real life
questions, insecurities and comedy into one album; This Unruly Mess I’ve Made is
unprecedented in music history. Macklemore is honest, brutally honest. Calling out Iggy
Azalea and Miley Cyrus in the last single of the album, “White Privilege II”, he speaks out for
the black community. Even as a successful white male, Macklemore lays it all out on the
table; the injustice, crime, racism, everything. He sees the unfairness occurring around him
daily. Not only does he speak out for minorities, but he even speaks out to millions about
insecurities in his own life. He’s rapped about his drug abuse, struggles with rehab,
questioning his existence and now how to raise his new daughter. He allows the listeners to
see into his daily struggles and truly get to know him. He doesn't hide behind 10 foot walls
guarding his house, instead he goes public, not keeping his private life separated from his
professional career. His career is based on his inner most private sector in life and for this I
stand by Macklemore. I support his decisions, his rulings, his views, etc. He is the perfect
role model to anyone struggling throughout their life. He’s been in the dark places we’ve all
been. He’s slipped and made mistakes but he knows that’s what makes us human, that is
how we are all similar. So please, if you haven't yet, listen to his new album all the way
through. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel sad and you’ll feel passionate. This Unruly Mess
I’ve Made is far from a mess. It’s true art.
